Abstract
NEUMANN, Erich and GARATE, Jesús M.. “Introduction” to Origins and History of Consciousness. Interpret. Rev. herméneut [online]. 2025, vol.10, n.1, pp.45-57. Epub June 20, 2025. ISSN 2448-864X. https://doi.org/10.19130/iifl.irh.2025.1/00s329x7w034.
We present here the introduction to Erich Neumann’s The Origins of History of Consciousness, a work hitherto unpublished in Spanish. Based on the development of Carl G. Jung’s Psychology, our author tells us about the way in which the unconscious manifests itself to consciousness through primordial or collective images of a mythical nature. These images are responsible for activating consciousness and its development. Like the morphological features of the body, according to our psychologist, the structural elements of the psyche are inherited and “infallible” cause psychotic disorders if they are ignored or mistreated.
Keywords : depth psychology; history of consciousness; image; archetype; psychotic disorders; mythological phases; evolution of consciousness.
