Abstract

The marriage between relatives is and has been a topic taboo, the anthropologists mention that it was one of the first prohibitions that the human being established. Nevertheless, never there have stopped existing links of this type. The Catholic Church imposed the prohibition of the marriage between relatives up to the fourth degree, nevertheless also it regulated the form in which they could be realized. This work tries to show which were the reasons of the marriage between relatives, in the parish of La Encarnación (1778-1822), according to what he remained seated in the documents of request of dispensation, as well as the importance that these marriages had, in quantitative terms, in this parish.
