ANASAGASTI, Jon; IZAGIRRE, Ane  e  BERCIANO, Ainhoa. Attitude towards probability and its teaching of secondary school teachers. Educ. mat. [online]. 2024, vol.36, n.3, pp.143-172.  Epub 04-Abr-2025. ISSN 2448-8089.  https://doi.org/10.24844/em3603.06.

Abstract This study analyses the Attitudes towards Probability and its teaching of in-service Secondary Education teachers in the Autonomous Community of the Basque Country; in this educational stage, students are between 12 and 18 years old. Academic training, gender and work experience are the variables taken into account for that purpose and the scale used is Attitudes towards Probability and its Teaching (ASPT). The sample is conformed of 185 teachers, (59.5% women, 38.9% men and 1.6% who chose another option). The average age is 44.51 years (S.D.= 10.72). Based on a descriptive analysis using the SPSS 28 statistical programme, the results indicate that the attitude of participant teachers, in general, is moderately positive and that the perception is apparently better for male teachers than for female teachers; moreover, teachers with a background in mathematics, physics or economics show positive attitudes, while those with a background in engineering, experimental sciences and architecture show slightly positive attitudes. With regard to work experience, attitudes towards probability and its teaching show more positive values as the years of experience increase. It is concluded that the data show heterogeneous attitudinal behaviour of in-service teachers and it is necessary to analyse whether the differences detected are statistically significant and, at the same time, to examine in detail the possible reasons for these differences.
