MARTINEZ-CORONA, José Isaías; PALACIOS-ALMON, Gloria Edith y ESCOBEDO-CASTRO, Jashven de San Juan. Generic Competencies and their Influence on Professional Performance. Investig. adm. [online]. 2025, vol.54, n.135, 00008. Epub 16-Jun-2025. ISSN 2448-7678. https://doi.org/10.35426/iav54n135.08.
The objective of the study was to analyze the causal relationships between perceived generic competencies and perceived job performance in graduates of a higher education institution using a structural equation model. The method consisted of a non-experimental, quantitative, cross-sectional design with a causal scope. The data were analyzed using the structural equation modeling technique collected with a validated instrument in a sample of 218 professionals. The results revealed that systemic competencies have a positive and significant impact on performance, validating the hypothesis raised, while no evidence was obtained to prove the hypotheses about interpersonal and interpersonal competencies. Its originality lies in evaluating these competencies in the Mexican labor context. The findings highlight the importance of systemic competencies for employability. A limitation of the study is the concentration of graduates from a single institution, suggesting that it be extended to other contexts for greater generalization.
