IBARRA GONZALEZ, Gabriel  e  CAAMAL-OLVERA, Cinthya G.. Why do women resign in Mexico? Analysis of the reserve salary under a cooperative approach. Anál. econ. [online]. 2025, vol.40, n.104, pp.87-105.  Epub 09-Set-2025. ISSN 2448-6655.  https://doi.org/10.24275/uam/azc/dcsh/ae/2025v40n104/ibarra.

The purpose of this article was to analyze women´s decision to remain or to quit the labor market in Mexico for the year 2019. The decision to quit is analyzed using a cooperative approach based on the sharing rule and labor specialization. The variable of interest is the reservation wage, which, although it is not directly observable, the Probit model corrected for assortative matching allows these decisions to be measured in a binary way and considering the endogenous family response. The results indicate that a higher wage and the formality of the spouse's employment are the factors that increase the probability that women quit their jobs. Therefore, it is essential to promote joint family policies that encourage women to remain in the labor market.
