RUIZ DAVILA, Bardo Dage; DURAN-BUSTAMANTE, Mario e BUENDIA RICE, Edgar Alejandro. Analysis and evolution of the financial inclusion policy in Mexico: 2012-2021. Anál. econ. [online]. 2025, vol.40, n.103, pp.27-51. Epub 08-Abr-2025. ISSN 2448-6655. https://doi.org/10.24275/uam/azc/dcsh/ae/2025v40n103/ruiz.
Financial inclusion makes it possible to facilitate the use and access to financial instruments among the population, as well as increase confidence in their management. Getting more people to use economic instruments and tools is its primary objective. It also directly implies strengthening the economy through its healthy functioning, which makes it possible to increase aggregate growth in the medium term. In the case of Mexico, the National Financial Inclusion Policy is responsible for designing, promoting, monitoring, analyzing, and directing the results obtained, which seeks to increase the development of financial capabilities and influence the improvement of the country's economic performance. To achieve this, it is supported by solid institutions that coordinate the implementation, management, and evaluation of the proposed policies.
This article aims to carry out a descriptive statistical analysis of the financial inclusion policy from 2012 to 2021 to determine if the goals proposed by the government have been achieved and to establish if the said policy has been successful. The study explicitly examines variables such as savings, credit, infrastructure, means of payment, and protection of the users of financial services in Mexico. The results indicate that it will take a lot of work for the Mexican government to achieve the proposed objectives in terms of financial inclusion for the year 2024.
