The neoliberal approach to globalization is in crisis. This supposes a conjunctural moment in terms of questioning the current framework or world order. Under this context, the role of the state in its relationship with the market is theoretically examined, explicating, in general form, the neoliberal globalization´s main implications towards peripheral regions in terms of its origin, evolution, and underlying premises. After, given the connotation and limits of these implications, the main governance mechanisms that could shape this process towards the construction of a more inclusive and equitable world order are explained, as an alternative proposal to guide the advance of globalization in the neoliberal capitalism context.
