This article examines the journalistic narratives about Latin America reproduced in the Arabian Gulf by the English-language newspaper Kuwait Times during the post-independence period. It argues that, by incorporating the Latin American reality at another end of the global south, the newspaper constructs an Arabist narrative using news from the territory as a mirror of its own reality, despite its reliance on metropolitan sources. This is demonstrated by emphasizing the coverage of Latin American news in the context of non-alignment and Cold War political dichotomies. Ultimately, it is concluded that Latin American territorial conflicts stimulate the cultural and political imagination in Kuwait. The importance of this research points toward a new field of study that consists of enhancing archival sources to elucidate an awareness of postcolonial challenges across the Third World.
