This review puts forth the two central contributions of the book Fundamentalismo y macro-ecumenismo. Una propuesta para el análisis de la dimensión política de los grupos religiosos [Fundamentalism and macroecumenism. A proposal for the analysis of the political dimension of religious groups]: the articulation of a theoretical-analytical matrix for the study of religions and religiosities in society’s political dimensions, and a series of interpretative analyses of what may be described as the religious-political realities of contemporary societies. The second part of the review explores the relevance of these contributions with regard to the insights and the gaps of the sociological literature on religion and the sociological debates on religion and politics in Mexico.
