This critical review discusses the book Far-Right Movements and Democracy: Ibero-American perspectives by Sanahuja and Stefanoni, which explores the global rise of new radical, populist, and neoconservative right-wing movements challenging the foundations of liberal democracy. The review highlights how the book broadens the debate beyond Europe by including experiences from Latin America and other regions, emphasizing the diversity of these movements depending on context. It particularly values the focus on the cultural and symbolic dimensions of the new right, as well as the connection it draws with the new left from past decades. The review also points out the lack of a clear time frame but acknowledges the book’s importance for understanding current political shifts.
