MAGLIANO, María José. Migration and Work in Argentina: Between Intermittency and Long Duration. Estud. sociol [online]. 2024, vol.42, e2680. Epub 19-Mayo-2025. ISSN 2448-6442. https://doi.org/10.24201/es.2024v42.e2680.
This article analyzes some specificities of the labor trajectories of Peruvian migrant women residing in the city of Córdoba (Argentina). Using a qualitative methodology based on in-depth interviews and participant observation, it explores the cross-cutting characteristics of these trajectories within the framework of a reflection that considers time as a key analytical factor. Among its main findings, it highlights the double dimension of labor temporality, oscillating between intermittency and long duration. On the one hand, it identifies certain short-term labor pathways, generally associated with self-employment; on the other, it observes long-term employment in specific jobs and the inability to achieve mobility beyond them. Both dimensions of that temporality are part of a deeply entrenched pattern of precarious and informal work.
