This article provides a brief review of the concepts of multiculturalism and interculturality that will be used in the case analysis, also of the repercussions of educational and linguistic policies towards indigenous people, conceived from power, which have fostered asymmetries and discrimination. The results of the diagnosis delivered in 2018 to the government of Andrés Manuel López Obrador to implement a more effective bilingual and intercultural education are mentioned, and the case of Santa Ana Tlacotenco, Milpa Alta, which is representative of many more, is specifically addressed: the commitment of the inhabitants of the area to preserve their ecosystem from predatory agents is noted. The strategies for preserving their customs and language, as well as the actions they have undertaken in pursuit of bilingual and intercultural education.
