Resumen

QUESADA GARCIA, Octavio. The Mesoamerican ancient visual language and the interdisciplinary thinking. Inter disciplina [online]. 2017, vol.5, n.12, pp.101-122.  Epub 91-Dic-2024. ISSN 2448-5705.  https://doi.org/10.22201/ceiich.24485705e.2017.12.61646.

This work is intended to broaden the description of the visual system used in Mesoamerican sacred images by approaching the object into the framework of Rolando García’s complex systems theory. This seems methodologically appropriate since the language shows different patterns among its constitutive elements, as well as in the manner in which it interrelates with other complex subsystems of what would be the major complex system (ʃcM, Spanish acronym). The obligations of epistemic and systemic coherence existing within this framework, allow us to propose a simple model of the ʃcM. Finally, the concept of functionality as an expression of the system as organized totality leads us to propose a notion of what we might call interdisciplinary thinking, or that which commences with the comprehensive understanding of the structure and resulting properties of the ʃcM in its milieu and is capable of enouncing all its features from a single explanatory vision.

Palabras llave : theory of complex systems; interdisciplinary thinking; ancient Mesoamerican culture; ancient Mesoamerican images.
