Resumen
DIAS, Carla et al. Critical emergency: hypovolemic shock secondary to NSAID enteropathy. Endoscopia [online]. 2025, vol.37, n.2, pp.57-62. Epub 28-Oct-2025. ISSN 2444-6483. https://doi.org/10.24875/end.25000006.
Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) are widely prescribed for treatment of pain or inflammation in a variety of chronic conditions. The injurious effects of NSAIDs on the small intestine were not fully appreciated until the widespread use of capsule endoscopy and device assisted enteroscopy. In this report, we describe a case of small bowel overt bleeding who presented with hypovolemic shock secondary to enteropathy due to NSAIDs in which a diagnostic plan of upper/lower endoscopy, capsule endoscopy and device-assisted enteroscopy was carried out, with satisfactory evolution.
