Satisfaction assessment in patients undergoing colonoscopy at the Hospital Regional 1.o de Octubre, ISSSTE, from April to June 2024. Endoscopia [online]. 2025, vol.37, n.2, pp.37-42. Epub 28-Oct-2025. ISSN 2444-6483. https://doi.org/10.24875/end.24000024.
Objective:
To evaluate the satisfaction of patients undergoing colonoscopy at the Hospital Regional 1o de Octubre from April to June 2024.
Method:
An observational, cross-sectional, descriptive and prospective study was conducted. Patients scheduled for colonoscopy were invited to participate in the study. After the procedure and following discharge from anesthesiology, they received a validated questionnaire to assess satisfaction with endoscopic procedures. The first seven questions of the questionnaire were multiple-choice, with each option assigned a score (1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 respectively). A score between 7 and 16 points was categorized as low, between 17 and 26 as medium, and between 27 and 35 as high.
Results:
A total of 197 questionnaires were administered, of which 63.5% were completed by females. The mean age of the group was 58.6 years. The degree of patient satisfaction was high at 67.5%, medium at 32% and low at 0.5%.
Conclusions:
Patient satisfaction with colonoscopy procedures at the Hospital Regional 1o de Octubre is high. The factors that most influence this satisfaction are the attention and care received from the medical staff and the rest of the staff.
