We reflect on the incidence of land use change in the different activities and processes that are interwoven in the milpa as a unit of study through a literature review on the subject, in the northwestern area of the State of Mexico, Mexico. Traditional agricultural practices, a wide diversity of weeds with different uses, a diverse local gastronomy and associated rituals were identified. Finally, we analyze on how land use change affects the knowledge and practices related to this agricultural system.
