QUEZADA-SALINAS, Andrés et al. Sensitivity of head smut of maize to different fungicides. Cienc. ergo-sum [online]. 2023, vol.30, n.2, e200.  Epub 02-Dez-2024. ISSN 2395-8782.  https://doi.org/10.30878/ces.v30n2a13.

The sensitivity of Sporisorium reilianum f. sp. zeae to different fungicides was determined under in vitro conditions, as a factor prior to its use in the field. Five concentrations were evaluated for each fungicide: 0.0001, 0.001, 0.01, 0.1 and 1 gram of active ingredient per liter; the necessary amount to prepare the concentrations was added to PDA culture medium, which was deposited in Petri dishes, teliospores of the fungus were exposed on the medium. Carboxin and carboxin+captan completely inhibit the teliospore germination and colony development in vitro. The use of carboxin and tebuconazole+thiram in the rotation of chemical groups for the integrated management of corn ear charcoal is proposed.
