Abstract

ALCANTARA NIEVES, Nehiby  and  LARROA TORRES, Rosa María. Agroecology in urban gardens in Mexico City and the construction of food citizenship. Iztapalapa. Rev. cienc. soc. humanid. This article aims to identify agroecological practices in urban gardens in Mexico City and their relationship with the construction of food citizenship. To address this relationship, ten urban gardens (UG) in Mexico City were selected. The collection of information was done through interviews with those mandated for the cultivation spaces, as well as their users, participant observation was also carried out in events organized by some of the UG. From this approach to urban gardens in Mexico City, we find that there is a tendency to privilege responsibilities over rights.

Keywords : Agroecology; Urban agriculture; food citizenship; agri-food trends; food regimes.
