GONZALEZ-GANDARA, Carlos. Fishes on blake reef, Veracruz, México: Inventory, distribution and zoogeographic affinities. Ecosistemas y recur. agropecuarios [online]. 2015, vol.2, n.4, pp.87-97. ISSN 2007-901X.
The goal of this paper is to make an inventory of coral reef fishes associated to Blake Reef, Veracruz, México, including notes about distribution and zoogeographic affinities. For this purpose, 116 visual censuses and 250 specimens were collected from March to October 2013. Sampling was distributed in the reef, considering four depths. The fish richness was compared using an ANOVA and Bray-Curtis Índex. After this, the fauna was classified in biogeographic components using the literature published. The fish fauna of Blake reef inelude 122 species, 71 genera and 33 families, between these, four new records to Veracruz. Families with more species were: Serranidae (15 species), Pomacentridae (11 species) and Labridae (10 species). Analysis of variance showed statistical differences in richness (F = 3.25; p = 0.024). According with their frequeney, two groups were defined, fishes of shallow and depth zones. Ichtyofaune of Blake reef presents an affinity with Caribbean component (85.2 %), this is an evidence of the connectivity between Veracruz and Caribbean reefs.
