Abstract
LOPEZ MARTINEZ, Jessica et al. Image Analysis and Mathematical Modeling for the Determination of Particle Distributions. Epistemus (Sonora) [online]. 2023, vol.17, n.35, pp.26-33. Epub Nov 22, 2024. ISSN 2007-8196. https://doi.org/10.36790/epistemus.v17i35.289.
Particle distribution is considered one of the main tools for control in the different unit operations related to mineral processing. In the crushing and grinding stages, this technique allows us to know the procedures involved in particle reduction processes as well as to determine the material balances within. In the present work, image analysis techniques, Weibull distribution model, as well as physical properties of a silica mineral that are used to determine a steady-state particle size distribution. For this purpose, the particle size distribution experimentally determined through the use of conventional meshes (Tyler Type) later compared with that obtained by means of frames. The Weibull model was used to mathematically fit the distribution obtained through the frames. The adaptations proved to be an aid that allows determining a reliable granulometric distribution through image analysis due to the fact that the error (SSE) is 1.3.
