CORDOVA SOLIS, Nery. The "drug trafficker" culture: power, reality, iconography and "myth". Cultura representaciones soc [online]. 2012, vol.6, n.12, pp.209-237. ISSN 2007-8110.
The social phenomenon of "drug trafficker" as a historical phenomenon experienced, observed and actually lived by a population, and in particular by the inhabitants of Sinaloa, is the fundamental theme of this text which outlines the peculiarities of the deeds, the course, the growth and the strengthening of what we call the "narco culture". The early days cultivating drugs within the 'soft' context of illicit drugs in Mexico, provided a base for strengthening and expanding the cultural and ideological configurations around what it is nowadays a criminal and powerful activity, which has put in a predicament not only the government, but also the institutions and society. This text provides a tour of the reality, the effervescence and the sociocultural "myth" of drug trafficking.
