This article seeks to understand the representation of Mexican Indians constructed by the anthropologist Julio de la Fuente, by analyzing the photographs he took during the first period of his career, when he did his field work in Oaxaca. Based on the contributions of visual anthropology, this text tries to incorporate new tools into the study of social representations in Mexican Anthropology.
