ARGUETA, Arturo y CASTILLEJA, Aída. El agua entre los p'urhépecha de Michoacán. Cultura representaciones soc [online]. 2008, vol.3, n.5, pp.64-87. ISSN 2007-8110.
This article is about local knowledge, beliefs, and social practices that have to do with water, in three forms, rain, spring water, and lakes in the p'urhépecha culture in the state of Michoacan. Based on recent field work and an extensive bibliography, it points out how communities organize traditional water management and water use in current crisis situations. Within a perspective of sustainable water management in the P'urhepecherio, water scarcity, pollution, and the deterioration of water sources are analyzed. The needs for dialogue and articulation between the different forms of knowledge and social practices are exposed.
