Resumen
FRENCH, Tina. Diana Mariscal (1949-2013) From go-go girl to muse of experimental cinema in Mexico. Entrediversidades rev. cienc. soc. humanid. [online]. 2024, vol.21, e202405. Epub 11-Oct-2024. ISSN 2007-7610. https://doi.org/10.31644/ed.iei.v21.2024.im01.
I met Diana Mariscal in Mexico City in the emblematic year of 1968 during the play “Exit the King” by Eugène Ionesco, directed by Alexandro Jodorowsky. We met again in 1970 when she auditioned for another play by the great Juan José Gurrola, whom she married shortly after. Diana had many peculiarities, among them a unique ability to read people’s minds; we became close friends, sharing creative moments in her house in Colonia Roma and during the effervescence of experimental cinema in Mexico. She participated in independent films and plays, and had relationships with notable art figures in Mexico at the time. Her life was framed by her genius as well as her emotional fragility, culminating in a tragic accident. Her memory, artistic legacy and ethereal spirit, remain within the memory of time.
