For the first time, a research article by the prominent Russian historian Sergey Tókarev is presented in Spanish, taking as a case study the cult of mountains in the beliefs of the world. The article dates from 1982 and stands out for its focus on methodological aspects relevant to the study of the history of religions. Given that the author’s positions on this subject are unknown in Mexico, the purpose of this publication is to disseminate Tókarev’s work not only for its historiographical study and discussion, but also for its possible application in the study of religiosity in Mesoamerica.
