This research was conducted within the educational context of a Faculty of Business Administration at a public university in central Mexico. The general objective was to determine the relationship between academic stress and psychoactive substance use among university students. The hypothesis established was causal: "academic stress is directly and positively related to psychoactive substance use among students of a Faculty of Business Administration at a public university in central Mexico." The methodology used was a quantitative approach using the Pearson correlation of variables, with a nonexperimental cross-sectional design. Surveys were administered to a sample of 282 students from the Faculty of Business Administration. The results show that academic stress, especially its psychological and behavioral components, is positively and significantly associated, on psychoactive substance use among students of the Faculty of Business Administration, while academic and physical factors have a weak relationship, and coping strategies show no correlation.
