This study examines the factors that generate anxiety among engineering students at the Polytechnic University of Tulancingo, with the aim of identifying the main causes and proposing solutions focused on student well-being. A quantitative, descriptive, and correlational approach was employed, applying the Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI) to a representative sample of 317 students from various engineering programs.

The results show that the main sources of concern are academic overload, pressure to achieve high grades, economic difficulties, and lack of social support. Regarding the levels identified, 70% of students reported low anxiety, 20% moderate, and 10% severe. Furthermore, the programs with the highest levels of anxiety were Computer Systems Engineering and Electronic Systems Engineering, while Industrial Engineering and Manufacturing Engineering showed the lowest levels.

Additionally, the study examined potential differences by gender and the relationship between symptoms and grade point average (GPA). The findings indicate no significant differences between men and women. Likewise, no statistically significant correlation was observed between anxiety and GPA, although a slight negative trend was identified.

Such measures are intended to enhance mental health, academic performance, and the quality of life of students during their professional training.
