Based on new controlled evidence, this paper argues in favor of a person-oriented system of adnominal and pronominal demonstratives in purepecha, whereby i/arhi points to entities in the domain of the speaker, inte/ante points to entities away from the speaker but close to the hearer. The last term, ima/ama corresponds to entities outside the domain of the speech participants.
