The paper offers a broad overview of trends in the processes of economic integration in the Pacific region, highlighting the political competition revolving around the Trans Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPP) and to the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP), as well as highlighting the advantages and disadvantages of both economic integration projects; the synchronous analysis allows us to focus on the importance of the us economy and hence of the project of regional bloc organized around it; the diachronic analysis establishes a contrast between the progressive deterioration of the American economy (and the TPP) as well as the progress made by the group of participating economies in the project of the RCEP.
