Abstract

NAVARRETE VELA, Juan Pablo  and  ROSILES SALAS, Javier. Opposition Resistance: Are There Only Signs of Authoritarian Slides in Mexico?. Intersticios sociales [online]. 2025, n.29, 00009.  Epub May 05, 2025. ISSN 2007-4964.  https://doi.org/10.55555/is.29.593.

The purpose of this research is a reflection on the status of democracy in Mexico, that is, if it is facing constant institutional dangers or it is an environment where we not only identify authoritarian slides, but also democratic fixations. The text presents a classification of variables that measure how much resistance capacity the opposition has, which allows us to analyze the empirical evidence of the main political actors. The investigation carries out an account of the political situation and takes as its main axis, the performance of the president of the republic, Andrés Manuel López Obrador.

Keywords : democracy; AMLO; capacity for resistance; democratic fixation.
