Acta de investigación psicol [online]. 2023, vol.13, n.3, pp.16-27.  Epub Dec 03, 2024. ISSN 2007-4719.  https://doi.org/10.22201/fpsi.20074719e.2023.3.508.

Infidelity is defined as emotional and/or sexual involvement with different partners outside the committed relationship. The aim of this research is to test whether sexual behavior and sexual personality predict unfaithful behavior in young university students, 626 people participated, 313 men (50%) and 313 women (50%) aged between 18 and 30 years ( x - = 20.64 ; σ = 2.49 ), the inclusion criteria were to be university students and to be in a committed relationship. The Multidimensional Infidelity Inventory (IMIN), the Sexual Behavior Inventory and the Sexual Personality Scale were used to measure the study variables. Data were analyzed through Pearson’s product moment correlation and through linear regression examining the dependent variables. It was concluded that the sexual behaviors of Seduction and Physical contact, as well as the sexual personality traits of Infidelity, Sexual restraint and Liberal, were the most significant predictors of infidelity.
