Abstract

RIVAS-MOYA, Teresa  and  REYES-MARTIN, Salvador. Instruments to Assess Anorexia Nervosa. Rev. Mex. de trastor. aliment [online]. 2021, vol.11, n.1, pp.1-16.  Epub Dec 31, 2021. ISSN 2007-1523.  https://doi.org/10.22201/fesi.20071523e.2020.1.627.

The growth increase of the prevalence of Eating Disorders, in industrialised populations and women, demands the development of measurement instruments for their correct evaluation. This study addresses a review of Anorexia Nervosa evaluation questionnaires, whose use is frequent in clinic and research, such as the Eating Attitude Test (Eating Attitude Test - 40, Eating Attitude Test - 26 and Children's Eating Attitude Test) and the Questionnaire for Eating Disorders Diagnoses. Psychometric properties of these questionnaires are revised, in Ibero-American and Spanish populations, as well as adaptations due to new conceptualisations of this disorder in the different reference diagnostic manuals. Scores of these questionnaires, in samples or groups of different characteristics, showed psychometric properties with adequate values of reliability and different types of validity. However, to update the item psychological content, according to the current diagnostic criteria, would be necessary as well as to carry out validation studies in relation to the set of eating disorders described in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth Edition.
