FLORES CORDOVA, María Antonia; SANCHEZ CHAVEZ, Esteban e PEREZ LEAL, Ramona. Allelopathic potential of leaf extracts from Astragalus mollissimus Torr. on in vitro germination of weed seeds. Rev. Mex. Cienc. Agríc [online]. 2015, vol.6, n.5, pp.1093-1103. ISSN 2007-0934.
Astragalus mollissimus Torr is one ofthe most important toxic plants in the Chihuahuan desert grasslands, toxic to livestock that consume it, due to the presence of alkaloidal secondary metabolites such as swainsonine; however, there is no existence of previous work on its allelopathic effect. The aim of this study was to evaluate the allelopathic activity in seeds of Lactuca vitreous, Sorghum halepense, Lolium multiflorum, Arundo donax and Medicago sativa, tests were performed with different concentrations 1, 1.5, 2, 2.5, 3 and 3.5% (v / v) of aqueous extracts of dichloromethane, acetone and methanol, obtained from the flower by evaluating the effect thereof on total germination (Gt) and accumulated germination rate (VGA). It showed that organic extracts were more phytotoxic than the aqueous extract, in the inhibition of seed germination from, Reed and Johnson. Therefore, the tested extracts of A. mollisimus allowed detecting allelopathic activity for its possible development as natural herbicide.
