This reflection explores the challenges currently affecting the Humanities and the Arts in complex universities in Chile and Latin America, particularly within a landscape dominated by scientific and technological priorities. This situation has weakened student interest, institutional support, and curricular presence. The author, Ignacio Sánchez, argues that these fields, historically central to university life, remain vital for cultivating critical thinking, ethical awareness, social cohesion, and responsible engagement with information. They also equip students with durable skills for addressing contemporary issues. The Reflection calls for curricular revision, stronger interdisciplinary initiatives, and a renewed appreciation of their social and cultural contributions.
