BINETTI, Maria. The Material Flatness of Socio-Constructivism. A Realist and Neo-Existential Criticism of the New Materialism. En-clav. pen [online]. 2025, vol.19, n.37, pp.97-122. Epub 18-Feb-2025. ISSN 2594-1100. https://doi.org/10.46530/ecdp.v0i37.721.
New materialisms are introduced as one of the possible lines of exploration within the framework of the ontological turn that characterizes the current century and separates it from the dominant linguistic paradigm during the last decades of the last century. Against the hegemony of discourse, language analysis and cultural studies, new materialisms postulate the irreducibility of a self-active, pluripotential and morphogenic material substrate, multiplied by entanglements of actants and assemblages. Matter is one and the same life, flat and univocal in its heterogeneous updates. Baruch Spinoza, Gilles Deleuze and Félix Guattari are among the main sources of inspiration of that animated One-All, whose matter feels, converses, suffers, desires and yearns, remembers. However, despite their metaphysical goodwill, I understand that these neo-materialisms insist on an ontic physicism finally resolved in imaginary constructions. As Deleuze states, material immanence is a constructivism, which experiences in the individual imagination the schematizing projections of its undecidable energy flows. A consequence of this constructivism is the post/transhumanist drift of materialisms, confident in the moral and political progress that technoscience would make possible. The current pages aim at showing the constructivist matrix of these new materialisms, functional to the deregulation of the market and the free post/transhuman production. As an alternative, I will propose a neo-existential realism centered on the concept of Geist as a natural dimension of human life
