Abstract
Pigmentary abnormalities in birds are rare in the wild but common in environments modified by anthropogenic impact. We report a case of partial leucism in the Clay-colored Thrush (Turdus grayi) from La Selva Biological Station, Costa Rica. The Clay-colored Thrush is a bird of wide geographic distribution, common in habitats with varying degrees of impact due to land use change in tropical forests from Mexico to Colombia. Reports of cases of birds with pigmentary abnormalities contribute to a better interpretation of the phenomenon as its frequency and to detect populations and localities where these alterations occur.
Keywords : Albinism; atypical coloration; pigmentary abnormalities; tropical rain forest.
