Abstract

MAGANA REYES, Jorge Ignacio; SANCHEZ LEZAMA, Francisco  and  DOMINGUEZ CARRILLO, Luis Gerardo. Chiari network, cause of diagnostic confusion. Illustrative video. Acta méd. Grupo Ángeles [online]. 2025, vol.23, n.3, pp.303-303.  Epub Aug 18, 2025. ISSN 1870-7203.  https://doi.org/10.35366/119966.

The Chiari network occurs due to incomplete resorption of the correct sinus venosus valve. It is noticed as a fenestrated membranous or reticular network structure in the valve of the inferior vena cava and coronary sinus. The left venous valve (LVV) remnant is observed as trabeculae over the fossa ovalis. The incidence of Chiari network and LVV is 3.75 and 7.5%, respectively. These structures may create diagnostic confusion.

Keywords : Chiari network; incomplete resorption; sinus venosus; coronary sinus.
