Abstract

ALANIS ENCISO, Fernando Saúl. UNITED STATES AND MEXICO: THE OFFICIAL VISION OF NATIONALITY OF MEXICAN-AMERICAN CHILDREN, 1930-1933. Tzintzun. Rev. estud. históricos [online]. 2024, n.80, pp.261-287.  Epub June 16, 2025. ISSN 2007-963X.  https://doi.org/10.35830/treh.vi80.1772.

The objective of this article is to analyze the position of the authorities of the United States and Mexico concerning the nationality of de American children, of Mexican origin, who participated in the return migration from 1930 to 1933 from the United States to Mexico. The hypothesis of this work is that the position that the authorities of each country adopted towards the Mexican-American children who participated in the displacement of the population of Mexican origin from north to south between 1930 and 1933, led to them losing their original nationality. , while neither of them recognized their nationality of American origin but rather they were granted a different one: the Americans did not recognize them as theirs but as Mexicans, and the Mexican women conceptualized them as nationals since many of them were Americans.
