This investigation has three objectives: 1) to carry out an ample list, 1766-1892, of nominal wages of one of the main workers in the Real del Monte mines, that is, the barreteros, along with other mining workers and compare them with the salaries of other different trades; 2) to study whether the miners of the 18th and 19th centuries were the aristocracy and the working elite, due to the nominal wages they obtained for their work in the mines and 3) to analyze the behavior of real wages, with respect to three consumer staple goods: meat, beans and corn.
