Abstract
GOMEZ-ZALDIVAR, Manuel. Análisis de la dispersión del PIB per cápita en las regiones de la República Mexicana, 1940-2009. EconoQuantum [online]. 2012, vol.9, n.2, pp.141-149. ISSN 2007-9869.
In this study we propose and employ a method for the analysis of relative convergence among Mexican regions, for the period 1940-2009. The results suggest that there is a reduction in GDP per capita dispersion in all regions before the eighties. Nevertheless, the evolution of the dispersion was diverse in the post-liberalization period. The relative dispersion for the states that belong to the North border region increased when compared to that in other regions. This implies that the impact of economic liberalization was more heterogeneous among them, and it had a more homogeneous impact for the states in the rest of the regions.
