This article analyzes the influence of several immigrant merchants arrival in Yucatan during the context of trade opening in the Caribbean. Likewise, it examines the mechanisms for strengthening the Yucatecan mercantile sector and the social, political and economic interference of these agents that allowed the commercial elite of Mérida and Campeche to position themselves as a power group in the region at the end of the Colonial era.
