Abstract

RODRIGUEZ BALAM, Enrique; CERVANTES KANTUN, Daniela; AGUILAR CANTO, Javier  and  MARTIN MORENO, Úrsula. Approaches to suicide in yucatán. A look at descriptive statics. Península [online]. 2022, vol.17, n.2, pp.109-146.  Epub Sep 10, 2024. ISSN 1870-5766.  https://doi.org/10.22201/cephcis.25942743e.2022.17.2.83529.

It is common that the study of suicide to be done from psychology, psychiatry, mental health or social psychology. Anthropological and sociological works are insufficient if we compare them with the investigations around the area of health studies. In this sense, our proposal is its approach from the social sciences, as well as its descriptive statistical analysis. It is an interdisciplinary effort to show that, from the vision of the socio-anthropological perspective and applied mathematics, analysis of correlational variables can be possible to delineate, capable of constructing the suicidal subjects with greater accuracy: sex, age, educational level, occupation and, even, their geolocation. To do this, we checked over statistics from various databases, from 1990 to 2019. Suicide becomes the object of quantifiable and measurable analysis seen in its social dimension, so it can refer to intervention proposals from different areas of knowledge.
