Abstract

LEON CORREO, Denisse; SOARES, Denise; MESA JURADO, M. Azahara  and  MOLINA ROSALES, Dolores. Households’ behavior facing the problematic of availability and access to water in rural zones. Contributions from tabasco, mexico. Península [online]. 2022, vol.17, n.2, pp.49-78.  Epub Sep 10, 2024. ISSN 1870-5766.  https://doi.org/10.22201/cephcis.25942743e.2022.17.2.83512.

In this contribution, made from the perspective of the human right of access to water, we approach the rural town of Tomás Garrido, in Tacotalpa municipality, Tabasco state, with the purpose of documenting the households’ behavior facing water access issues. Familiar practices such as hauling, purchase of containers for storage, water rationing, and the adjusting of domestic activities in the dry season were found. In addition to this, community activities are carried out for the conservation of water sources, such as reforestation. We conclude that the local population do not perform their human right to water.

Keywords : human right to water; perceptions; availability; access to water; sustainable development goals.
