Abstract

AQUINO MORESCHI, Alejandra. Decolonizing through Community-Building.Comments on the Book by Jaime Martínez Luna. Rev. pueblos front. digit. [online]. 2024, vol.19, e742.  Epub Nov 15, 2024. ISSN 1870-4115.  https://doi.org/10.22201/cimsur.18704115e.2024.v19.742.

Rather than presenting a synthesis of Jaime Martínez Luna’s book, this review seeks to retrieve some “clues” shared by the author throughout the eighteen chapters for us to proceed towards a political, epistemic, and subjective decolonization. The reflections Luna offers are based on an incisive critique of Western modernity, as well as on a reflection on communality, understood as a practice, a horizon, and a pathway toward decolonizing our existence. Based on this proposal, decolonization necessarily implies communalizing life, thinking and behaving like communal beings that recognize themselves as part of the world and not its center.

Keywords : communality; epistemic decolonization; indigenous people.
