Based on ethnographic records, this article addresses the construction of sacred territoriality in a settlement founded by Guatemalan refugees in Chiapas State, Mexico. It aims to describe the rituals currently carried out by the Acatecan population from La Gloria, in the municipality of Trinitaria, in order to vindicate their place of origin: San Miguel Acatán, in Huehuetenango, and consolidate the territory they have appropriated in Chiapas State. This paper analyzes the importance of the celebration of the feast of Saint Michael Archangel, expressing continuity of Acatecan identity, as well as the feast devoted to the Virgin of Candlemass (Virgen de la Candelaria), as a way of constructing new sacred territoriality. This analysis shows the hierophanization process of territory in the context of mobility.
