XOCHIPA MORANTE, Reyna; ESCOBEDO GARRIDO, José Sergio; GUERRERO RODRIGUEZ, Juan de Dios and MORA FLORES, José Saturnino. Community Social Participation in Value Chains. Blue Corn in Sierra Nevada of Puebla. Región y sociedad [online]. 2024, vol.36, e1882. Epub Nov 29, 2024. ISSN 2448-4849. https://doi.org/10.22198/rys2024/36/1882.
Objective: Identifying community participation in productive and transformation activities for blue corn, which revalue local knowledge to conserve and use this grain. Methodology: With a simple random sample of 93 producers, tours, bibliographic review, and statistics, two logit models were designed. The probability of participation is estimated with sociodemographic variables and with work variables, as predictors. Results: The chain is made up of the links of production, collection, transformation, distribution, and consumption. The variables age, indigenous language, and schooling are significant (p > 0.05), as well as the incorporation into work and hours worked (p > 0.05). Limitations: The study addresses three communities out of twenty existing ones. Value: Examination of a native grain, preserved, and used in this region. Conclusions: The value chain and its social dynamics in the region are very important, due they facilitate participation in the use of indigenous pigmented corn, with local production and employment.
