GARCES DIAZ, Sergio; GUTIERREZ CEDILLO, Jesús Gastón; PEREZ RAMIREZ, Carlos Alberto y FRANCO PLATA, Roberto. Sustainability Assessment in Three Municipalities of the Ecotone Zone of the State of Mexico. Región y sociedad [online]. 2019, vol.31, e1184. In this study, sustainability in the municipalities of Malinalco, Tenancingo de Degollado and Villa Guerrero, located in the ecotone zone of the State of Mexico, was assessed between 2017 and 2019. Using a methodology based on the Framework for the Assessment of Management Systems Incorporating Sustainability Indicators, from an environmental sciences approach, 20 indicators were selected in accordance with the municipal space analyzed considering diagnostic criteria and sustainability attributes. According to the results, Villa Guerrero is more sustainable compared to Tenancingo de Degollado and Malinalco. It follows that progress is needed in the construction of indicators that can be used at various spatial scales, and incorporating territorial, environmental, political, socio-cultural and technological criteria in order to strengthen sustainability assessment processes.
