MENDOZA SANCHEZ, Mario Alberto. Development stages in Sonora: an interpretation of economic performance regimes, 1940-2015. Región y sociedad [online]. 2018, vol.30, n.73, 0015. ISSN 2448-4849. https://doi.org/10.22198/rys.2018.73.a999.
This article identifies the economic development stages in Sonora from 1940 to 2015. This characterization is supported by the analysis of economic performance regimes associated with development theories; three periods were found: a so-called economic take-off period, from 1940 to 1970; a combined period, from 1971 to 1990, and an economic maturity period, from 1991 to 2015. A distinguishing feature of this periodization is the differentiated pattern with regard to national dynamics. Empirical evidence shows a correlation between structural transformation, described by the general development theories, and the sequence typified by the regime approach. However, activities currently leading the economic performance regime impose a type of development which is far from being a paradigm to follow.
