A cause of the recently academic attention to the specificity of the phenomenon of early pregnancy in indigenous communities, whether rural or urban, we propose to describe the process of change or reproduction of traditional gender roles and attitudes towards sexuality based on the characterization of urban indigenous communities in Metropolitan Area of Monterrey (MAM). Through a qualitative methodological approach, with 5 semi-structured interviews with key informants and 6 interviews with indigenous women residing in one of these communities, we analyze and interpret their responses regarding: community formation, political organization, social and cultural reproduction dynamics, implications for gender relations, sexuality, and early pregnancies.
Keywords : early pregnancy; urban indigenous communities; gender roles; migration; sexuality.
