Women’s entry into the labor market has redefined their roles in families and society through their adoption of egalitarian attitudes. This article analyzes the direct and indirect effect of female employment moderated by women’s socioeconomic characteristics. Using a conditional process analysis based on ordinary least squares we find that the direct and indirect impact of female employment depends on women’s age, partner’s education and number of children. To reach the objective of this research, with data from the National Survey on the Dynamics of Households Relationships (ENDIREH) 2016 collected by the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI), we employed a conditional process analysis based on ordinary least squares. We conclude that the direct and indirect impact of female employment mainly depend on women’s age, partner’s education, and the number of children.
